United Nations Under Secretary General Condemns Israeli Violations in Syrian Golan

The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, condemned the Israeli forces’ violation of the area of operations of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in the Syrian Golan, calling for adherence to the disengagement agreement.

In his speech before the UN Security Council during yesterday’s session on the Israeli attacks on Syrian territory, Lacroix stated: “The situation in the UNDOF area of operations remains volatile and continues to be marked by significant violations of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, with Israeli forces entering the buffer zone.”

Lacroix, according to the Turkish Anadolu Agency, emphasized that “all actions that are inconsistent with the agreement are unacceptable,” stressing the importance of all parties fulfilling their obligations under the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

He also stressed the necessity for the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force to have freedom of movement in its area of operations, affirming that the presence of the UN force is essential for the stability of the Golan and the region.
