Geneva,(ST)- A UN report revealed that the Israeli occupation authorities are committing horrific violations against Palestinian prisoners in its prisons and detention centers.
France-Press Agency quoted the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said in a report published today that thousands of Palestinians were forcibly removed from the Gaza Strip and taken to detention centers in Israel where many of them were subjected to torture and dozens died.
The report referred to a group of horrific acts carried out by the Israeli occupation authorities against Palestinian prisoners, such as waterboarding and unleashing dogs on them. The report explained that at least 53 of these detainees died in Israeli detention centers and prisons.
The report denounced these horrific acts against Palestinian detainees, stressing that they represent a flagrant violation of international law and human rights.
Since the beginning of its aggression on Gaza Strip, the occupation has arrested more than 10,000 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and thousands from the Gaza Strip.
18 prisoners whose identities have been revealed have been martyred in the occupation’s prisons, in addition to dozens of prisoners from Gaza whose identities and circumstances of their martyrdom have not been disclosed by the occupation.
