United Nations: Israeli settlements are illegal

New York (ST): The United Nations has reiterated that Israeli settlements built on occupied Palestinian land are illegal under international law.

Wafa news agency quoted the United Nations envoy to the Middle East, Tor Wencesland, as saying in a statement issued after the Israeli occupation announced a plan to establish 1,355 new settlement units in the West Bank, “We express concern about the Israeli authorities’ announcement of building new settlement units and the continuation of settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. I repeat that all settlements are illegal under international law.”
