United Nations reaffirms the illegality of the settlement activities of the Israeli occupation entity
United Nations, (ST) – The United Nations on Wednesday reiterated its firm position regarding the illegality of the settlement activities carried out by the Israeli occupation entity in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The United Nations News Center quoted a UN spokesperson, Stephane Dujarric, as saying at the daily press conference that, “our position is constant and does not change regarding all settlement actions, including displacement and demolition. All these actions are illegal under international law.”
In response to concerns about the risk of displacement of dozens of Palestinians from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in EastAl-Quds( Jerusalem), Dujarric said that, based on Security Council Resolution 2334, which demanded that the Israeli entity stop settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Al-Quds (Jerusalem), the international community will not recognize any change that occurs on the 1967 borders, especially with regard to Al-Quds (Jerusalem).
Earlier today, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs renewed its demand for the UN Security Council to assume its legal and moral responsibilities towards the ongoing Israeli occupation crimes against the Palestinian people and implement the relevant UN resolutions, foremost of which is Resolution 2334, which calls for a halt to settlements.
