United Nations: Occupation’s displacement of Palestinians from Msafer Yatta is a war crime

Occupied Jerusalem (ST): The United Nations has warned that the forced displacement of Palestinians from the Msafer Yatta area, south of Hebron in the West Bank, is a war crime that contravenes international law, calling on the Israeli occupation authorities to put an end to all its coercive measures against the Palestinians.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs “OCHA” confirmed in a statement, according to the Palestinian Ma’an Agency, that “forced eviction that leads to displacement in the event of its implementation amounts to the level of forced deportation, which is a grave violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention and therefore considered a war crime,” noting that international humanitarian law imposes an absolute ban on forcible transfer from or within the Occupied Palestinian Territory and the occupying authorities must put an end to all coercive measures, including planned evictions and demolitions, and military measures there.

The statement explained that the continuous displacement of Palestinians and settlement expansion changes the reality on the ground and contradicts international humanitarian law and Security Council resolutions, which are legally binding.
