UNICEF: Gaza child casualties ‘a stain on our collective conscience”

The United Nation Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that more than 2400 children have so far been victims of the Israeli occupation against Gaza, the number of injuries have excessed 5,300 children as a result of the continuous Israeli attacks over the past days, which equates to the death and injury of more than 400 children every day.

RT website quoted Adele Kheder, UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, as saying :The killing, maiming and kidnapping of children , attacks on hospitals and schools and preventing the arrival of the humanitarian aid constitute  grave violation of the children rights” adding that : “The situation in the Gaza Strip represents a stain on our collective conscience, and the rate of deaths and injuries among children is very shocking”.

Khedar expressed her concerns about the possibility of an increase in the number of victims unless tension is eased and humanitarian aid is allowed to enter, including food, water, medical supplies, and fuel, calling on the international community to intervene immediately to agree on a ceasefire for humanitarian purposes and allow aid to arrive.

Kheder pointed out that the West Bank also witnessed a worrying increase in the number of victims, as it was reported that about 100 Palestinians, including 28 children, were victims of this aggression, and at least 160 children were injured.

The Israeli occupation continues its aggression against the Gaza Strip and committing massacres against the Palestinians, as the number of martyrs has risen to approximately 6,000 martyrs, and the number of injured has reached approximately 20,000.
