UNHRC forms a committee to investigate human rights violations in the Palestinian territories

Geneva (ST): The United Nations Human Rights Council has adopted a resolution to form an independent international commission of inquiry into the Israeli aggression in the Palestinian territories and to ensure respect for international humanitarian law and international human rights law in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem and the territories occupied in 1948.

The resolution was adopted after 24 countries voted in favor of it, 14 abstained from voting, and 9 countries objected against the resolution.

The Human Rights Council resolution affirmed that it is imperative to hold perpetrators accountable, and ensure the application of international humanitarian laws and international human rights law.
