UNITED NATIONS, (ST)- The UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, said on Thursday that the Turkish aggression on the Syrian territories has caused the displacement of tens of thousands of civilians who were forced to leave their houses to safer places.
The agency said in a statement that tens of thousands of civilians have fled the areas targeted by the Turkish shelling seeking a safe place. Hundreds of thousands others remained in danger, the agency added, stressing its rejection of targeting civilians and civil infrastructure.
Also, the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed concern over the humanitarian situation and civilian displacement caused by the aggression launched by the Turkish regime on the Syrian territories.
Speaking to journalists in Copenhagen, the UN chief said that he did not “believe in military solutions for the crisis in Syria, also for any other problem in the world. I always strongly believe in political solutions.”
