Paris-(ST)- In its 219th session, the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) unanimously adopted two resolutions related to the State of Palestine: “Occupied Palestine and Cultural and Educational Institutions.”
Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki explained that the adoption of these resolutions is important to preserve the rights of the Palestinian people in light of the crimes and violations committed by the Israeli occupation authorities, especially in the Gaza Strip and their disregard for international law and the precautionary measures of the International Court of Justice, and in light of the double standards of the international community and the absence of accountability for crimes Genocide committed by the occupation in Gaza.
Al-Maliki pointed out that the adoption of these resolutions is a testament to the possibility of the international community fulfilling its responsibilities to implement an urgent action plan to protect the Palestinian people, and its cultural heritage and history which are threatened by Zionist colonialism, and to reconstruct and develop the Gaza Strip, in addition to protecting the Palestinian sites listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, including the city of Al-Quds and Al-Aqsa mosque and the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron in the West Bank.
