UNESCO adopts two resolutions in favor of Palestine

Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – The Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted in its 220th session held in Paris, two resolutions on Palestine unanimously, namely: occupied Palestine, and cultural and educational institutions.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry welcomed in a statement carried by the Wafa News Agency the adoption of the two Palestine resolutions by the organization, stressing that adopting such resolutions is important to preserve the rights of all the Palestinian people in light of the violations, crimes and massacres committed by the Israeli occupation entity against the Gaza Strip and other Palestinian villages, towns and cities.

The Foreign Ministry said: The continuation of the policy of double standards, the silence of the international community, the absence of accountability, and the absence of implementation of UN resolutions and UNESCO agreements and principles regarding the violations of the occupation forces are the reason behind the continuation of these crimes.

The Ministry referred to the adoption of the two resolutions as evidence of the ability of the international community to fulfill its international duties and responsibilities towards the peoples, their heritage, legacy, and history, which are threatened by the long-standing Israeli colonization in Palestine.

The Foreign Ministry stressed the importance of these resolutions in confronting attempts to forge and deliberately destroy Palestinian historical, heritage, and cultural sites, and other Israeli violations of world heritage sites, including in the occupied city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem), the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Ibrahimi Mosque in the city of Hebron, and the destruction of archaeological sites in the Gaza Strip.

The Foreign Ministry warned of the repercussions of not implementing the provisions of international law and relevant UN resolutions and UNESCO resolutions, which encourages the occupation to persist in its crimes. It called on the international community and UNESCO to take the necessary clear steps to stop the violations of “Israel,” the occupying power, against cultural and heritage institutions and Christian and Islamic holy sites.
