Under the Patronage of President Bashar Al-Assad, activities of 12th General Conference of the Teachers’ Syndicate kick off under the slogan “With education, awareness and knowledge, we fortify our children and build the nation.”

Assistant Secretary General of the Baath Arab Socialist Party Hilal Al-Hilal represented President Al-Assad at the event.

Al-Hilal conveyed President Al-Assad’s greetings to Syria’s teachers who effectively fought alongside the Syrian Arab Army in combating terrorist and extremist thinking which Syria’s enemies have been trying to plant in areas hit by terrorism.

Prime Minister Hussein Arnous told journalists on the sidelines of the conference that caring for teachers’ issues, enhancing their situation and advancing the education structure is among the priorities of the government’s work, reiterating the role of teachers in disseminating awareness about the concepts of national unity, cooperation and solidarity.

Minister of Education Mohammad Amer Al-Mardini hailed the role of the teachers’ syndicate activating the young generation which will build Syria’s future.

The Palestinian Ambassador to Syria Sameer Rif’at was among the personalities who attended the opening of the conference.

He said that attending the conference aims at affirming that the Palestinians and the Syrians are one people, pointing out that all people’s organizations in Syria have affirmed their support for the Palestinian cause and for the Palestinian people’s struggle to liberate their land from occupation.

The opening ceremony of the 2-day conference included screening a short film about teachers and artistic activity titled “Salute to Gaza”.

A letter of solidarity from Syria’s teachers was presented to the Palestinian Ambassador expressing their support for the Palestinian people and their resistance in the confrontation of the Israeli occupation.
