Under the chairmanship of Syria, a OAPEC meeting is held in Kuwait

The Council of Ministers of the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) held its 108th meeting at the level of delegates of oil and energy ministers in the member statesin Kuwait. 

 

Syria is chairing the current year 2022 session, which was chaired by Eng. Khaled Al-Alej, theSyrian Assistant Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources. 

The Secretary-General of the organization, Ali Sabt bin Sabt, said in a statement that the meeting discussed a number of topics related to the work and activities of the organization, including the ratification of the final accounts of the organization for the year 2021. 

The meeting was also briefed on the report on the preparations for the 12th Arab Energy Conference to be held in Qatar during the last quarter of 2023. 

Sabt explained that the council was also briefed on the reports prepared by the General Secretariat of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), including a report on the global petroleum situation, a report on gas flaring on the flame, a report on the “Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its initial repercussions on global oil markets”. 

Earlier, the 162nd meeting of the Executive Office was held under the chairmanship of Eng. Al-Alej, during which the progress made in the field of activating the relationship between the General Secretariat of the Organization and the Arab companies.

The meeting also dealt with the selection of the OAPEC Award for Scientific Research for the year 2022 from among three proposed areas related to the petroleum transformational industries, new and renewable energies, and decarbonization technologies in the petroleum industry and the circular economy of carbon.
