Under the auspices of Mrs. Asma al-Assad National Olympics scientific Committees, outstanding teachers honored

  DAMASCUS, (ST) _ Under the patronage of Mrs. Asma al-Assad, the National Scientific Olympic Commission has honored many of its scientific committees and outstanding teachers, in a celebration held yesterday at Damascus University auditorium.

Acting on behalf of Mrs. Asma al-Assad, the ceremony was attended by Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam.

  The commission honored 11 students who made significant achievements for the Syrian scientific Olympics during their participation in continental and global Olympic events in 2014, some 20 teachers of the scientific committees in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, informatics and natural sciences and 25 teachers, winners in the first scientific experimental for teachers.

Speeches made by ministers of education and higher education stressed that the difficult conditions experienced by Syria could not obstacle the remarkable successes achieved by the National Commission of the Syrian scientific Olympics and the scientific excellence, attained by the participants, among students and teachers, pointing out that these achievements are in defense of the homeland and a motivation for students to raise scientific knowledge and develop their creative and innovative spirit.

They stressed that the development of national experiences in the world of knowledge and transferring national talents into industry is the foundation on the ground of which today’s economy knowledge is built for attaining sustainable development.

Noteworthy that in 2014, the Syrian Scientific Olympics achievements resulted in one “universal” silver medal in information technology, one “continental” silver medal in math, one bronze “universal” medal in chemistry and two bronze” continental” medals, in informatics as well as “universal” certificates of appreciation in mathematics and physics and one “continental “ certificate of appreciation in mathematics.
