Under Patronage of President Al-Assad New Electric Power Transformation Plant Inaugurated in Sweida

SWEIDA, (ST)- Under the Patronage of President Bashar Al-Assad, the Dahr El-Jabal Electric Power Transformation Plant and its feeder line was inaugurated on Saturday in Sweida province at a cost of 6 billion Syrian pounds.

The inauguration event marks the 46th Anniversary of the October Liberation War.

Minister of Electricity Mohammad Zuheir Kharboutli said in a statement to reporters that the power plant, which has a capacity of 60 megawatt, was implemented completely by national technical expertise to decrease pressure on the line (66kv) which feeds the city of Sweida. The project also aims at providing electricity for the tourism development area in Dahr el-Jabal as well as at ensuring stability in the entire electricity system in the province and meeting the growing demand for energy.

Accomplishing this project, according to Kharboutli, coincides with the start of carrying out another important project to rehabilitate the electric power line (230kv) which extends from Sheikh Miskeen area in Dar’a province to al-Koum area Sweida.
