UN: The Turkish aggression on Syria caused displacement of many civilians

The United Nations confirmed that the aggression of the Turkish regime on Syrian territory has caused the displacement of about 180 thousand civilians, including 80 thousand children, and caused significant material damage in infrastructure and the destruction of a number of important facilities such as water and power plants which serve hundreds of thousands of civilians.

A UN statement, which SANA received a copy of ,pointed out that the aggression launched by the Turkish regime forces on the Syrian territories on the 9th of this month has significantly affected the humanitarian situation in Syria, and led to the damage of Allouk main water station and the electricity supply lines in addition to four medical facilities. This makes the continuous ensuring of humanitarian needs a necessary issue.

According to the statement, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) teams, in cooperation with the Water and Electricity Corporation, repaired al-Allouk water station, which has been out of service since 10 days ago due to the assault by the Turkish regime forces. Al-Allouk water station serves more than 400 thousand people in the city of al-Hasakah and the surrounding displacement camps.

The Turkish regime has launched an aggression on a number of towns, villages and towns in the countryside of al-Hasakah and Raqqa, which led to the death and injury of hundreds of civilians, including children, women and workers in the service sectors and the displacement of thousands of their areas, in addition to significant material damage in service facilities and important infrastructure such as dams, water and power plants.

In a press statement, Omran Reda, the UN Resident Humanitarian Affairs Coordinator in Syria, said upon his return to Damascus from the northeastern areas, that the United Nations is exerting its efforts to help those affected and to offer humanitarian assistance. The UN is focusing on the most vulnerable people, especially as many of the displaced have been displaced more than once, Reda added, calling for the protection of civilians and infrastructure.
