UN Security Council Fails to Condemn the Turkish Aggression on Syria

NEW YORK, (ST)- The United Nations Security Council convened on Thursday to discuss the Turkish aggression on the Syrian territories, but it failed to agree on a statement condemning the Turkish military operation.

The Security Council’s meeting was requested by five European countries: Britain, France, Germany, Belgium and Poland.

Following the session, the five European members issued a statement calling on the Turkish regime to halt its aggression on the Syrian territories. 

 According to France Press, the five countries urged Turkey to halt its “unilateral military action in Syria”, expressing deep concern over this aggression which threatens of the reviving of Deash terrorist organization which itself poses serious threat to regional, international and European security.

They  rejected the Turkish regime’s plans to establish a so-called ” safe zone” and opposed any attempts to make a demographic change there.

In the meantime, Norway and Finland suspended exporting new shipments of weapons  to the Turkey following its aggression on Syria.
