UN’s Libya Envoy: Erdogan can now be held accountable if he interferes in Libya

TRIPOLI, (ST)- The UN’s Libya Envoy Ghassan Salame has stressed that it has become possible to hold President of the Turkish regime Recep Tayyib Erdogan accountable for sending terrorists and mercenaries to Libya.

He made the remarks after the issuance of the final document of the International Conference on Libya in Berlin which was signed by 16 countries and organization including the Turkish regime.

Participants in the conference affirmed the need to stop interference in Libya’s internal affairs, pointing out that the crisis in Libya can be solved through a comprehensive political settlement.

The participants asserted the need to continue monitoring the ban on arms exports to Libya and to disarm militias. They also called on all concerned parties to distance themselves from the groups classified by the UN as terrorist organizations.

In an interview with the Libyan 218TV, Salame said that in the fifth article of the Berlin Document, Erdogan pledged not to send Turkish troops or mercenaries to Libya and not to interfere in this African country, therefore he can be held accountable if he violates this document.

Earlier, Salame confirmed that 1000-2000 Turkish-backed terrorists, sent by the Turkish regime from Syria to Libya, have arrived in the Libyan capital Tripoli, while media reports reiterated that the Turkish regime has so far sent 3200 terrorists from Syria to Libya.

Salame pointed out that the Security Council will be informed about the results of Berlin conference in order to give international legitimacy to the reached agreement.
