A report by UN experts on the use of chemical weapons in the Syrian city of Ghouta in August 2013 confirms that these weapons were used by Syrian “opposition fighters”, Russian Permanent Envoy to the UN Vitaly Churkin said.
“What is written in the current report does not change or perhaps even confirms our conviction that “fighters”, not the Syrian government, are behind the use of chemical weapons in Syria,” Churkin said on Rossiya-24 news television channel on Friday,according to Voice of Russia, Interfax.
