New York (ST): More than 11,000 boys and girls have been killed or injured in the ongoing war in Yemen – an average of four a day since fighting escalated in 2015, though the number is likely to be far higher, the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has reported.
Catherine Russell, Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, said in a report published today after a visit to Yemen this month, according to France Press Agency:“Children are the ones who pay the most, and life has become a struggle for survival, and thousands have lost their lives, and hundreds of thousands of others are still at risk of death as more than 11 thousand children have been killed and injured since the escalation of the war in 2015.
Months ago, the Organization indicated that about 10,000 children were killed and injured, and the number has been verified, but the actual number is likely to be much higher, according to the report.
