UN rejects the targeting of journalists while performing their duty, says Haq

New York, (ST) – Deputy Spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Farhan Haq affirmed that the international organization has opposed the targeting of journalists while performing their duty.

Haqq said in a press statement, commenting on the killing of a war correspondent for the Russian “Izvestia” channel: “We are against the killing of any journalist, and we believe that any incident like this should be fully investigated”.

Yesterday, Izvestia announced the death of its war correspondent, Semyon Yeryomin, 42, as a result of wounds he sustained as a result of a bullets fired by a Ukrainian drone while performing his professional duties in the special military operations zone on the Zaporozhye axis.
