UN Ready to Facilitate Dialogue between Government and Opposition to Solve Crisis in Syria

GENEVA,(ST)_ The UN  stressed  willingness to “facilitate” a dialogue between the government and the opposition to resolve the crisis in Syria.
AFP quoted the  organization as saying  in a statement that: “The Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the UN envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi discussed in a meeting held Saturday in Switzerland recent statements by the Syrian government and the opposition, indicating the  desire for dialogue,” adding , “The UN  strongly welcomes and is  willing to facilitate a dialogue between strong delegation representing the  opposition  and a delegation   accredited  by the  Syrian government. “
Worthy mentioning  that a meeting  between Ban Ki-moon and Brahimi was  held  Saturday near Lausanne, Switzerland in the context of an annual meeting between the Secretary-General and  UN special representatives and envoys in 30 diplomatic or peacekeeping missions  in the world.
