UN: Perpetrators of Serious Violations Against Palestinians in The West Bank Must be Held Accountable

The United Nations has condemned the attack by Israeli settlers on Palestinians in the West Bank village of Jit, calling it appalling and revealing the persistence of impunity.

AFP quoted the spokeswoman of the UN Human Rights Office, Ravina Shamdasani, as saying, “There are reports that weapons are being distributed to settlers to carry out these attacks, so there is clearly a responsibility on the Israeli government in this regard.”

Shamdasani stressed that the attack in the village of Jit was horrific, and therefore the mass murder committed in it is not isolated but a direct result of the Israeli settlement policy in the West Bank, noting that the past years have also witnessed settlers attacking Palestinian villages with continued impunity.
