The speaker of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund “UNICEF” James Elder , confirmed that every child in Gaza Strip now needs a type of psychological support, in the light of the continued Israeli aggression against the Strip.
Elder said in an interview with the American CNN news network: “UNICEF was providing the support for about 100,000 Palestinian children in Gaza Strip before the 7th of last October”.
He added:” Now every child there needs some kind of the Psychological support and the situation is getting worse day by day until we hopefully reach a ceasefire “.
Elder continued:” If you give this generation appropriate skills and mental health, this is a boom, and vice versa, it leads to a demographic disaster for a generation of children who are suffering from the effects of what is happening.
According to UNICEF estimates, there are 17.000 children who have become without relatives or have been separated from their families in Gaza due to the Israeli aggression.
UNICEF stressed in a post on X platform:” the world cannot abandon Gaza’s children who are exposed to atrocities and extremely painful events, which children should not witness and the world cannot abandon them, calling on the Israeli occupation to cease fire in Gaza for humanitarian reasons”.
The UN Office for Humanitarian Affairs confirmed that there is an urgent need to help children, many of whom are suffering from acute malnutrition in addition to trauma as a result of the Israeli aggression on the Strip.
