UN General Assembly reaffirms sovereignty of Syrians in the occupied Golan and of Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territories over national resources

The United Nations General Assembly has renewed the adoption of a resolution affirming the permanent sovereignty of the Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan, and of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories over their natural resources.

The General Assembly adopted on Wednesday the annual resolution entitled “Permanent Sovereignty of the Palestinian People in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Jerusalem, and of the Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources,” with a majority of 159 countries and the opposition of the Israeli occupation entity and seven countries, while 10 countries abstained from voting.

The resolution reaffirmed the inalienable rights of the Syrians in the occupied Syrian Golan, and of the Palestinian people to their natural resources, including land, water and energy resources.

In its resolution, the United Nations General Assembly called on the Israeli occupation authorities to stop exploiting or destroying natural resources in the occupied Golan and in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Al-Quds. It also called on Israel to stop all actions harmful to the environment, including those carried out by Israeli settlers such as dumping waste of all kinds in the occupied Syrian Golan and in the occupied Palestinian territory, which poses a serious threat to the natural resources of the population, specifically the resources of water and soil, and threatens the environment and the health of civilians and their facilities.
