NEW YORK- (ST)- The United Nations has renewed its call on the Zionist occupation authority to comply with UN resolutions on the occupied Syrian Golan, particularly the Security Council resolution No. 497 for 1981 which considered Israel’s decision to annex the Golan as null and void.
The UN call came during a UN General Assembly meeting in which it adopted draft resolution V on the occupied Syrian Golan, by a record vote of 168 in favor to 1 against (Israel), with 11 abstentions including the U.S. and Canada. The text called upon Israel to immediately give up its decision on Golan annexation and to desist from changing the physical character, demographic composition, institutional structure and legal status of the occupied Syrian Golan and in particular to desist from the establishment of settlements.
The resolution considered these Israeli procedures as null and void and as open violation of the international law and the Geneva agreement relating to the protection of civilians during wars.
The resolution urged Israel to stop imposing the Israel identity on the Syrian citizens and halt its oppressive acts against the people of Golan.
It also urged UN member states not to recognize any of the Israeli procedures which violate international laws in the occupied Syrian Golan.
