Reuters quoted the UN Secretary General António Guterres  as saying that we have to move to confront all these threats directed against our children and to do everything possible to alleviate the adverse consequences of the pandemic.

A UN report said that the economic difficulties faced by families because  of the world economic depression might result in hundreds of thousands of children’s deaths in 2020, and this will eradicate the progress realized over the past three years regarding reducing children’s deaths.

The UN added that about 42 to 66 million children will be vulnerable to miserable poverty as a result of the Corona virus pandemic and this number will be added to  386 million children who have already been living in abject poverty.

In light of the closure of most of the commercial activities and the isolation of more than one billion people at their homes to avoid the spread of the Corona virus, the International Monetary Fund expects that the world would suffer this year from a severe depression similar to that which happened in the 1930s.
