UN Demands Israel to Rescind Golan Heights Annexation Jaafari: Israel Sponsors Takfiri Terrorism

NEWYORK ,(ST)_  Once again  the UN demanded Israel comply with international legitimacy resolutions , including resolutions  pertinent to occupied Syrian Golan, especially  resolution 497, which considered   Israeli decision to impose its laws, jurisdiction and administration on the occupied Syrian Golan as  null and void and  of no legal  international effect.

This came during the adoption of the Special Political issues and decolonization “of the UNGA  Fourth Committee”  yesterday  of the draft resolution entitled the occupied Syrian Golan decision , which was  overwhelming  won  the majority of the UNGA Member States.

The UN resolution called on Israel to rescind its annexation of the Golan Heights , considering  that all legislative and administrative measures and actions taken or to be taken in order to change the character and legal status of the occupied Syrian Golan as  null and void, and as constituting  a flagrant violation of international law and the Geneva Convention on the protection of civilians in time of war.

The resolution also called on Israel to stop  imposing Israeli citizenship and Israeli identity on the Syrian citizens in the occupied Syrian Golan and the repressive measures against its population . It also  denounced the Israeli violations of the Geneva Convention on  the protection of civilians in time of war .

Syria’s permanent representative to the UN  Dr. Bashar Jaafari  said in a statement after the  adoption of the resolution that voting  overwhelmingly in favor of the draft resolution, which was submitted by  38 countries shows the great international support for the restoration of the occupied Golan fully until the fourth of June line 1967 and rejection  for the continued Israel i occupation of the Syrian Golan and also confirms that the Israeli annexation attempt is  null and void ,according to UN Security Council Resolution 497.

Jaafari  indicated that Israel has become a public sponsor of  takfiri of terrorism which  expelled UNDOF forces from their positions in the occupied Syrian Golan and kidnapped its personnel pointing out that the latest report of the UN  Secretary-General on UNDOF proved that Israel is cooperating  with  al-Nusra Front  terrorists and facilitates their  infiltration  into Syria  across the border.

Jaafari stressed that Israel  being  the only side to vote against the resolution is of great significance in  representing an Israeli open message to the world  that Israel is not concerned with  international consensus , the United Nations  nor  the  international law.
