The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, has called on the new owner of the social networking platform, American billionaire Elon Musk, to ensure that the social network respects human rights, in a frank criticism, for his decision to lay off thousands of employees.
“Like all companies, Twitter must understand the harms associated with its platform, and take steps to tackle it,” AFP quoted Türk as saying in an open letter published on Saturday, stressing that respect for human rights is a safety barrier for the use of the platform and its development.
