The heads of several UN and international agencies stressed the need to end the horrific human suffering and humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza Strip as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression since October 7.
In a statement issued yesterday evening, reported by Palestinian Wafa Agency, the heads of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee called for an immediate, unconditional, and sustainable ceasefire as the only way to end the suffering of the Palestinians and save lives in stricken Strip.
Officials pointed out that more than 41,000 Palestinians were killed in Gaza as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression, most of them women and children, and sometimes entire families, while more than 95,000 Palestinians were injured, a quarter of whom will need rehabilitation and specialized care for life. They warned that more than two million Palestinians lack the necessities to survive, while the threat of famine looms over Gaza.
The officials called on world leaders to use their influence to ensure respect for international humanitarian law, international human rights law, and the rulings of the International Court of Justice through diplomatic pressure and cooperation to end impunity.
