“Umm Al-Rabie’ayn”   Cultural Festival held in Tartous

Under the title “ Syria – rich wilderness”, the 22nd session of “Umm Al-Rabie’ayn”  cultural Festival  was recently held  at the Arab Cultural Center in Tartous province  with the participation of a number of artists and writers from several governorates.

The three-day festival  included an exhibition of plastic art and sculpture ,  poetry evening and a ceremony honoring  the poet Abdel LatifMahrez in appreciation of his poetic achievements.

Head of the festival Alwan Abdel-Hadi said in a statement to SANA “ the cultural event is of great importance as it formed a rich cultural platform for a number of artists and poets from Aleppo, Homs, Lattakia, Al-Sweidah and Tartous to present and exchange  their different cultural works”.

Lawyer Yasser Mahrez, son of the poet Abdul LatifMahrez, believed that  honoring the  prominent figures while  they  are alive is a wonderful step and reflects  the high appreciation for the  distinguished.He pointed out that  the poet Mahrez’s career includes  15 manuscripts and 4 studies.

He stressed that despite the poet’s  91 years , he is still at the zenith of his giving, and until this moment he is still writing to provide the  cultural movement  with more poetic and literary production.
