Ukrainian, Syrian Relations Strong

DAMASCUS, (ST) – Ukrainian Charge d’Affaires in Damascus, Evguen Jobev, confirmed that the relations between his country and Syria are “very solid” since the seventies of the last century, saying that Ukrainian policy is “largely balanced” in Syria and the Middle East.

In a press statement he made yesterday, Jobev said that his country calls for halting the violence in Syria of “all parties” and launching a national dialogue as soon as possible.

He expressed “his country’s concern of information raised by unknown parties and circulated by various media recently about the possibility of the involvement of Ukrainian citizens to the crisis in Syria,” adding that this information “is not consistent with the fact and groundless and aims defaming the balanced and honest policy to Ukraine in Syria and the Middle East.”

” What has been said about the  participation of Ukrainian citizens in military operations along the Syrian opposition is unfounded,” Jobeve assured according to the data from the concerned Syrian authorities.

He also called for an end to “military operations of all parties and launch a political dialogue”
