Six Syrian female artists, called “Ugarit artists”, opened on Sunday an exhibition in the “Mishwar” Gallery in Damascus.
The exhibition, which will last until the 24th of February, displays 33 paintings and sculptures for female artists: “Amal Zayat” – “Sarab Al-Safadi” – “Ghada Haddad” – “Lina Deeb” – “Ola Hilal” – “Batoul Al-Mawardi” and “Yusra Mohammad”.
The paintings reflect the depth love and beauty of Syrian women.
The artist Lina Deeb, Vice-President of the Union of Fine Artists, shows in the gallery works depicting the nature and the ancient environment that reflect the tradition.
“The exhibition aims to highlight the role of the Syrian women in her family and society and show the artist’s life” Lina said.
For her part, the artist Ghada Haddad declared that three of her works talk about the ancient Khan Asaad Pasha, while the other two paintings shows the deep connection between the past and civilization.
The artist Ola Hilal depicts in five small sculptures the issues of reality and human situations such as love, sadness and abandonment using the ores of antique bronze, artificial stone and cement to produce her sculptures to help her complete the artistic value of the work.
The exhibition also shows five paintings made by artist Batoul Mawardi on the richness and diversity of nature in Syria.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by the Minister of Culture, Dr. Lubana Mshaweh, the Director of the Directorate of Fine Arts, Imad Kashout, and a group of people who are interested in the Syrian art.
It is noteworthy that a group of Ugarit artists was founded in 2018 by female artists from various governorates with the aim of highlighting the role of women in Syrian society, reviving the Syrian heritage and conveying a message that hope still exists.
