UAE sends 35 tons of humanitatian aid to displaced families arriving in Syria from Lebanon due to Israeli aggression
An Emirati plane carrying 35 tons of aid for families coming from Lebanon arrived at Damascus International Airport. The included relief and food supplies, medical supplies and equipment, and an ambulance.
The UAE Ambassador to Syria, Hassan Ahmed Al Shehhi, explained in a statement to reporters that this plane is the first to arrive in Syria for this purpose. It carries 35 tons of aid, medical equipment, relief supplies and food, he added, noting that humanitarian aid constitutes a major axis in UAE’s policy and an integral part of its path and moral obligations towards peoples.
Al-Shehhi also said that “within the framework of the fraternal relations between the UAE and Syria and the brotherly peoples of the two countries, and in light of the current events in the region, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, directed the provision of urgent humanitarian and relief aid to brotherly Lebanon since the first moments of these events to support the brothers in Lebanon. He also directed that this aid be extended to brotherly Syria to support the displaced Lebanese and Syrian brothers returning from Lebanon”.
For his part, Syria’s Minister of Local Administration and Environment and Chairman of the Higher Relief Committee Louay Kharita said in a statement: “since the beginning of the blatant Israeli aggression on brotherly Lebanon, the brothers coming from Lebanon through the regular border crossings have begun to arrive in Syria, so, the Higher Relief Committee responded and began, under the directives of President Bashar Al-Assad, to provide all support and basic needs to the Lebanese brothers without hesitation.”
