UAE Minister of Health: “We will continue to support our brothers in Syria to face the effects of the earthquake”

The UAE Minister of Health and Community Protection Abdul Rahman bin Muhammad Al-Owais stressed his country’s continuous support for the Syrian people, especially in the medical sector, to face the repercussions of the earthquake.

Al-Owais said in a statement today, after he and the Minister of Health Hassan Al-Ghabbash and the Governor of Lattakia Amer Hilal were briefed on the situation of the sites affected by the earthquake in the city of Jableh: We and the Syrians are one people, and there is continuous contacts to help our brothers in Syria, in implementation of the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and with the direct follow-up of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of the Presidential Bureau, to secure direct health and medical needs. He pointed to the formation of an Emirati team of doctors, engineers and technicians specialized in health services to study the current situation and support the brothers in Syria with all that the UAE can provide, not only for this stage, but for next stages.

Al- wais added: The earthquake disaster does not represent a challenge to Syria only, but to all of humanity, and we hope to see a unified position towards this humanitarian challenge in the world.
For his part, Minister of Health Hassan Al-Ghabbash said: “His Excellency, the UAE Minister of Health, was acquainted with the damage caused by the earthquake in Jableh as part of the cooperation between our two brotherly countries in the health sector which is not new, as the UAE has always supported this sector to secure appropriate health services for citizens, and we look forward to further enhance this cooperation, its continuity and its advancement as Minister Al-Owais said, the UAE is ready to provide all possible support and assistance to the health sector in Syria.

Earlier today, the UAE Minister of Health and Community Protection arrived at Lattakia International Airport, accompanied by a medical delegation on board a plane loaded with 46 tons of relief aid for those affected by the earthquake.
