US State Department regional spokesman Samuel Warburg said in a television interview “Trump is serious about lifting sanctions on Syria. The decision comes after positive steps by the Syrian leadership.

He added ” The decision to lift sanctions does not require a direct meeting between Presidents Ahmad al-Sharaa and Donald Trump.”
