U.S., NATO actions in Europe increase military threat, says Shoigu

Moscow, (ST) – Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu affirmed that, the actions and provocations of the United States and NATO in Europe contribute to increasing tension and the risk of the outbreak of war.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Tuesday that, the measures taken by the United States and NATO in the European region were contributing to an increased military threat. He said that at a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Member States of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe.”

He pointed out that appropriate measures have been taken in response to the threat of NATO’s military activities, and a sudden examination of the combat readiness of the Western and Southern Russian military regions has been conducted. Shoigu pointed out that, Russia is closely monitoring the movement of NATO forces in Europe as part of “Defender Europe” exercises.
