U.S. Administration’s Extremist Position Destabilizes Region and Beyond, Says PLO official

PLO Executive Committee Member Dr. Hanan Ashrawi underscored that the extremist position of the U.S. Administration and the biblical messianic message of U.S. vice President Mike Pence not only disqualified the U.S. as peace broker but created conditions of volatility and instability in the region and beyond.

Her remarks were made during her meeting today with Egyptian-Ambassador-designate Issam Ashour at the Palestine Liberation Organization’s headquarters in Ramallah.

“The Administration’s blind support of Israel and its complicit role in the military occupation have dealt a death blow to the chances of peace,” Dr. Ashrawi said, according to a press release sent by the PLO Department of Culture and Information to the Syriatimes e-newspaper.

The press release indicated that the meeting between Dr. Ashrawi and the Egyptian official was largely informal and focused on the latest political and regional developments, including U.S. Vice President Mike Pence’s recent visit to the region.

It added that both parties affirmed the strong historical ties and relations between Palestine and Egypt and reviewed issues of mutual cooperation and interest.
