Two young ladies from Sweiada city establish a micro-sized project, inspired by their skills and passion for work

The two young women, Raya Al-Qasim and Doaa Atta, relied on their manual skills, artistic taste, and passion for work to succeed in establishing a micro-sized project related to designing gifts for special occasions, which was launched about a year ago in the city of Sweida.

Doaa, 27 years old, a graduate of the Faculty of Science, and Raya, 26 years old, a student in the Faculty of Education, specializing in psychological counseling, indicated during their conversation that their project was a reflection of their hobby for manual work, in order to demonstrate their capabilities, fill their free time with useful things, and achieve a source of income for them.

According to Raya and Doaa, although each of them works within her home, marketing brings them together within the permanent Antique Branch Exhibition for handicrafts, which they joined months ago, after participating in several exhibitions during the past period, as they are united by one page for electronic marketing, in addition to their kinship, since Doaa is Raya’s cousin.

Doaa, who is also good at drawing and has the encouragement of her sister, the architect, works to preserve any memorial item with “resin” material such as items related to infants, bouquets of roses, etc.., in order to preserve them from damage and present them with an aesthetic appearance, as she mentioned.

Raya is keen to develop her work and introduce new ideas into it, as she began by manufacturing candles, while her keenness is aimed to innovate and develop continues to satisfy the tastes of customers and the requests submitted for her work.

Ambitions carried by Raya and Doaa, who are working hard to open their own shop during the coming period and to market their business to the governorates and outside Syria.

The two young women find that anyone who has the will can undertake any project and succeed in it and create something for themselves, regardless of their circumstances, as they confirmed that they faced obstacles and overcame them thanks to their determination to follow through.

According to the media coordinator at the Permanent Antique Branch Handicrafts Exhibition, Enas Abu Saada, Raya and Duaa established a distinguished participatory project that left an impact, attracted attention and achieved a satisfactory result because the handiwork in it was integrated, indicating that the exhibition gave them the opportunity, after getting to know them, to show their work to its visitors.
