Two Syrian young men design a remote-controlled robot to help put out fires and carry out humanitarian tasks

Hasakah,(ST) – Two young men from the Faculty of Engineering at the International Private University of Science and Technology designed a remote-controlled robot, that can be used in many fields. It is a drone that can carry weights between 2 to 3 kilograms, has a temperature and altitude sensor.

The two students, Mayas Ismail, a graduate of computer engineering from Hasakah governorate, and Zain Al-Abidin Ibrahim, a graduate of communications engineering from Lattakia governorate, designed the robot as a graduation project in the Engineering Department.

In a statement to SANA, the supervisor of the graduation project, Dr. Moatasem Shafa Omari affirmed that, the project is a model for purposeful work that can be employed in many fields. Most of these fields are like, flying over natural reserves and identifying risks before they occur such as forest fires or locating trapped people and the possibility of sending aid to besieged places and providing services to patients.

Mayas said that, the project came from the idea of implementing humanitarian aid, adding that the recent forest fires and the Corona pandemic made them think of an invention that serves purely humanitarian goals. He pointed out that, the plane can reach difficult areas and carry out its tasks easily and with high accuracy.

Zain Al-Abidin indicated that, the plane works by a “Lipo” battery for the aircraft and can carry heavier weights as the size and power of its engine increase.

He stressed that, he and his colleague are currently working on developing and updating the project to be able to better present the desired goals

This project is the first of its kind because it brought together two specialists.
