Two Russian analysts: The American aggression against Syria and Iraq is a flagrant violation of international law

Moscow, (ST) – Two Russian analysts have affirmed that the aggression launched by the United States at dawn Saturday  targeting areas in Syria and Iraq represents a flagrant violation of the provisions of international law and an aggression against two independent, sovereign countries.

Vice President of the Russian Diplomats Association, Ambassador Andrei Baklanov, said during an interview with SANA’s correspondent in Moscow that these actions practically mean that the Americans allow themselves to choose targets to strike in any country in the world. He stressed that it is time for everyone to unite to stop the Americans and refute their claims and arguments.

Baklanov pointed out that the way to solve this issue is based on the withdrawal of the illegal American presence from the region and stopping the plundering of the natural resources of the Syrian people. He said that thus the Americans’ pretexts are weak and unrealistic regarding the attacks on their bases.

Baklanov considered that “the actions of the Americans and Israel in general are increasing the escalation and destabilization in the Middle East, and great efforts should be made now to restore the situation in the region to its normal state.

In turn, the Head of the Department of Arab and Islamic Studies at the Russian Oriental Institute, Professor Boris Dolgov confirmed that the United States’ attack on sites in Syria and Iraq is characterized by aggression against two sovereign countries.

Dolgov explained that the presence of American forces in Syrian territory lacks legitimacy and is illegal because it was carried out without a license from the United Nations and without the approval of the legitimate Syrian government.

The Russian analyst added that these actions violate all resolutions of international legitimacy and are a described aggression that deserves to be reprehensible and condemned by the international community. He referred that these actions are not the first against Syria, as “Israel” also continues to carry out such aggressive actions, and this calls for appropriate measures to be taken to implement the Syrian government’s demands to withdraw the American occupation forces and stop attacks on its territories.
