Two Persons Killed, four wounded in Lebanese army clashes with Gunmen

BEIRUT,(ST)_ Two persons  were killed and four others wounded in fire  exchange between members  of the Lebanese army and gunmen traveling in a car as they  refused to stop at an army checkpoint in the al-Sharawneh – Baalbek  area yesterday afternoon.

A statement by the  Lebanese army Guidance Directorate said  that while members  of one  army checkpoint was attempting to stop a car carrying several gunmen,  its occupants  inside opened  fire at army members at the checkpoint , who retaliated the fire and as a result  two persons were killed and four wounded, three of them were  passersby citizens, walking  near the scene.

 The statement pointed out that the two  said gunmen were arrested . They are wanted to justice under arrest warrants while the victims and the injured  were admitted to hospitals in the region and military police took over the investigation into the incident under the supervision of the competent court.
