Two Palestinian prisoners continue their hunger strike

Two Palestinian prisoners, Khalil Awawda and Raed Rayan, continue with their hunger strike in protest against the Israeli occupation’s continuing crimes towards the prisoners.

The Palestinian Prisoners and Released Affairs Authority pointed out in a statement today, reported by Wafa Agency, that Awawda, a detainee in Ramle prison, continues his strike for the 81st day, and is suffering from health problems. The measures taken by the occupation authorities against Awawda, especially his frequent transfer from one cell to another, is nothing but a way to exhaust him physically and try to discourage him from continuing his strike.

The authority indicated that Raed Rayan continues his strike for the 45th day and suffers from difficult health conditions.

On the other hand, the commission said that the occupation authorities are holding the two sick prisoners, Muwafaq Uruq, who suffers from liver and stomach cancer, and Walid Daqqa, who suffers from a spinal cord defect and pulmonary infections, in very tragic and difficult conditions in Ashkelon detention center. The occupation authorities also clearly and deliberately practiced medical violations against them, which led to a serious aggravation in their health situation.

The Commission called on international institutions, human rights institutions and the Red Cross to play their necessary role towards the issue of prisoners, especially the sick, and to put pressure on the occupation to stop its violations against them.
