Two Mass Graves Containing Bodies of Military Personnel and Civilians Discovered in Raqqa Countryside

RAQQA, (ST)-Two mass graves containing the bodies of tens of military personnel and civilians, who had been killed by Daesh terrorist organization, were discovered in Raqqa western countryside, a field commander told SANA reporter in Raqqa on Friday.

“After establishing control over Raqqa western countryside and expelling Daesh terrorists from the area by the Syrian Arab army and following the return of the locals to their villages and areas, the people informed the army about the existence of two mass graves near al-Wawi town, 25 km to the southeast of Dibsi Afnan township, the commander said.

“We immediately went to the site of the mass graves where we found evidence about the existences of tens of corpses, so we call on civil defense teams for help in pulling the bodies out,” he added.

According to Director of Dibsi Afnan township, work will continue until all the bodies are pulled out and procedures to identify the corpses and handing them over to their families will be adopted.

A member of the civil defense team said that the operation will take several days to be accomplished due to the wide area of the two mass graves.

Daesh terror organization committed horrible massacres against military personnel and civilians in several Daesh-held areas in the country and hid their corpses in mass graves.
