Two “charity” organizations based in Kuwait has admitted that they have been financing terrorists in Syrian rebels, media reports say.
According to Kuwaiti media outlets, since neither of these two charities is registered with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, its fundraising activity is illegal and can be considered a crime, according to Voice of Russia, TASS.
A co-founder of one of the charities speaking on condition of anonymity told reporters that he has had no problems with the authorities since the organization started work two years ago.
“Even though our work is illegal, we have no problems with the government because we are a charity organization. There are other fundraising organizations as well. They regularly appear on local TV openly calling for boosting support for the Syrian “opposition”. Not a single one has been arrested,” the charity co-founder said.
He confirmed that the bulk of donations is used to purchase weapons for the ‘Free Syrian Army”.
