Sweida, (ST) – The “Shams” volunteer team in Sweida on Wednesday organized two initiatives on the occasion of International Women’s Day, in appreciation of the role of Syrian women in various fields.
The coordinator of the Shams volunteer team, Beryhan Jumblatt, stated in a statement to SANA that the two initiatives aim to support women and highlight their status and the role they play in various fields. He indicated that in the first initiative, children sponsored by the team were involved in activities to enhance the values of love and giving in them, while the second initiative aimed to support elderly women and taking care of them.
The “Shams” volunteer team, which was established more than two years ago, is currently working under the supervision of the Directorate of Social Affairs and Labor. It aims to serve and develop groups of children who lack family care, in addition to caring for the elderly in the Social Welfare Association.
