Twitter removes 70000 accounts for Trump supporters

San Francisco (ST): Twitter  has announced that it suspended 70000 accounts related to the extremist movement of QAnon which supports  outgoing President Donald Trump to prevent the owners of these accounts from promoting violence.

France Press Agency quoted the statement released by the company as saying that the measure was taken in the aftermath of the violent acts witnessed by the capital Washington last week.

Most of the social media outlets have taken unprecedented measures since the attack of Trumps’ supporters against the Capitol last Friday.

The statement also warned against plans published on Twitter to organize armed demonstrations in the future.

Trump’s supporters gathered near Twitter’s office in San Francisco to protest against the company’s decision.

Meanwhile, Washington’s mayor has warned against the existence of extremist groups  that represent a source of danger  in the future.
