Turkish regime’s policy is a threat to peace and stability in the region, says Greek Foreign Minister

Amman, (ST) Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias reiterated that the Turkish regime’s policy is illegal and can destabilize peace and stability in the region.

AFP quoted Dendias as saying, following the meeting of the foreign ministers of Greece, Cyprus and Jordan in Amman today, “Turkey’s actions violate international law and are destabilizing the region .” He called for confronting its policies.

The Greek minister added that, Turkey exploits immigrants as a political tool; it promotes propaganda and false news, and inflames security issues by transporting terrorists from Libya to the Caucasus, which I describe as a “terrorist agency for terrorists” and thus constitute a threat to peace and stability in the region.

Dendias stressed that Greece rejects such Turkish policies in the region and stresses that they are unacceptable actions, explaining that Turkey threatened Greece with war if it worked within the framework of its sovereign rights and expanded its territorial waters to 12 nautical miles.

It has been decided that the leaders of the European Union will discuss the matter at the summit scheduled to be held on December 10 and 11, after previous warnings were made last October that the sanctions are one of choices.

The European Union has recently warned the Turkish regime of the consequences of continuing its escalation policy in the eastern Mediterranean, indicating that the coming days will be decisive in the relationship between the European Union and Ankara.
