Al-Hasakah, (ST) – The Turkish occupation forces and its terrorist mercenaries continue to deprive the residents in Al- Hasakah city from water for the 12th day in a row, amid great suffering of the people in securing drinking water, especially with the high temperatures.
The Director General of Water Institute Eng. Mahmoud Akla in Al-Hasakah, Eng. Mahmoud Okla, affirmed in a statement to SANA that , “this continuous cutting of water shows there is no change in the reality. The violations of the Turkish occupation forces on the power lines feeding the station are ongoing, the matter which causes the power to be disconnected from the station due to the overloading”. He indicated that, the efforts continuing to solve the problem, to re-pump the city center of Al-Hasakah.
Okla said that, securing drinking water for the people of Al-Hasakah is currently done through special water tanks that the Syrian Red Crescent branch has placed in several places in the city center and fill on a daily basis as an emergency response to alleviate the suffering of the people.
Okla pointed out that the water transported through tankers is clean and from the wells of the Al-Hasakah Water Institute in Nafasha and Tal Brak, and they are constantly monitored and examined.”
The head of the city council, Eng. Adnan Khajo, says that “the council’s tanks are working around the clock to transfer water for domestic use to the people in order to alleviate their suffering.
The Director of the Syrian Red Crescent Organization branch in Al- Hasakah, Elaf Al-Hammoud, said in a statement to SANA that, “the Crescent branch, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, operated 15 tanks as an emergency response to transport drinking water from wells of the Public Institute for Drinking Water and distributed it to 150 tanks with a capacity of 5 cubic meters installed in neighborhoods”.
The Turkish forces and their terrorist mercenaries intend to encroach on the line of tension feeding the station and use electricity to serve their criminal practices. This matter which is in context of the plans devised by the Turkish occupier of the region aimed at displacing and seizing the original landowners in preparation for giving these lands to terrorists and their families.
The Turkish occupation forces have stopped pumping water from the Alouk station more than 18 times since their illegal presence in the northern countryside of Al-Hasakah at the end of October 2019.
