ANKARA, (ST)- The Turkish regime on Tuesday issued arrest warrants against 34 people over their alleged link to preacher Fethullah Gulen, whom the regime accused of being behind the coup attempt in Turkey in 2016.
Anatolia News Agency, a mouthpiece for the Turkish regime, quoted judicial sources as saying that 23 people were arrested in the Turkish capital, Ankara in accordance with arrest warrants issued by the Prosecutor’s Office against 34 people, including 21 soldiers on duty.
In another arrest campaign in Ankara, the Turkish security forces arrested two of the 11 former judges and prosecutors who were recently sacked by the Supreme Council of Judges and Prosecutors, under the pretext of their links to the Gulen organization.
The Turkish regime has launched crackdowns and arrest campaigns targeting its opponents and political rivals under various pretexts within the framework of its policy of suppressing freedoms. Tens of thousands of people were arrested and dismissed in various civil and military institutions in Turkey under the pretext of the attempted coup.
