Turkish parties call for the withdrawal of Turkish troops from Syria

ISTANBUL, (ST) The participants in the conference organized by the Republican People’s Party of Turkey (CHP) has called on the Turkish regime’s head Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to withdraw Turkish Troops from the Syrian territories and to stop his support to terrorists, especially in Idleb province.

They called also for reconsidering Erdoğan’s policy towards Syria as it poses a threat to Turkey.

The final statement of the conference in which over 40 academic, media and political dignitaries plus representatives of civil organizations took part, stressed that the regional and international interventions in Syria’s internal affairs contradict with UN resolutions. It condemned Erdogan’s policy in the Syrian Jazeera region

The statement, in addition, called for withdrawing Turkish forces from the north of Syria and to cooperate with the Syrian state and all legitimate institutes in accordance with good neighbor policy and the guarantee of Syrian territories’ unity.  

Repeatedly, the Syrian Ministry of Expatriates and Foreign Affairs stressed that the presence of US forces and any other foreign military presence in Syria without the approval of Syrian government is an attack on Syria’s sovereignty and it is a blatant violation of US charter and principles.

On the other hand, the participants in the conference expressed their support to the efforts being exerted to resolve the crisis in Syria through Astana, Sochi and Geneva talks.

Any external intervention in the work of the Syrian constitutional committee must be rejected and the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland must be facilitated, the conference’ statement read.  

The conference was held in Istanbul on September 28 under the slogan “A Path to Peace in Syria”
